New Harping on My Old Theme: Conserving Precious Resources
In a room with little floor-space, I use the top of my dryer as a platform for a wooden drying rack. Heavy items like towels and easy-to hang items like cloth napkins dry there in less than a day, instead of consuming gas and electricity. When necessary, light items are run through the shortest drying cycle possible, which is interrupted after a few minutes, and they are left to rest in the warm machine until completely dry. With good planning, the use of electricity can be done in the wee hours, when there is little likelihood of "brown-outs" or rolling power-blackouts.
