Preparing Our Winter Wardrobe

 

It's an exciting time of year, when leaves fall and weather is changing in the Northern Hemisphere. As it becomes cooler outdoors, we have many more clothing options than in the summer. Long woollen stockings, richly-coloured tights, pullovers, gloves of many styles, boots, and plush hats make winter more enjoyable and warm indoors as well as out in the wintry landscape. Doing an inventory of the items in our dressers, trunks and closets/cupboards can be inspiring. With a keen eye and some open-minded creativity, we can begin planning some fresh ensembles from old favourites: coats, jackets, cardigans, blouses, shirts, trousers, waistcoats and skirts that have been stowed-away for months may suggest new combinations for winter dressing. The classics endure, therefore it may not be necessary to acquire new clothes this year. ©M-J de Mesterton 2023
